At this time of year, it can be easy to get carried away with social, work and family commitments. Coupled with lack of sleep and perhaps over-indulgence, it can be easy to feel un-grounded and disconnected from ourselves.
Here’s a simple yoga pose to bring you back down to earth:
Sitting down in a cross-legged position or on your shins, gently close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth. Gently soften your shoulders away from your ears and lengthen your back. Envision your breath moving all the way down to the base of your spine, nourishing all your cells with new energy.
Next, raise your right arm and place your hand on the left side of your neck. Take a breath in and on the exhale gently move your head and your neck over to right. Hold here for a few breaths, then remove your hand and come back up to centre. Repeat on the other side. Try this two or three times on each side.
