As we start to say goodbye to 2016 it’s a good time to think about what we want to leave behind us and shed so that we have some space to begin to welcome all of the things we are calling in for 2017

The Winter Solstice this year falls on December 21st. It is the shortest day and the longest night of the year and is the perfect time to do this as it’s a time to move away from the darkness of the past and into the light of the future.

This is a really simple ritual that I do when I need to let things go and release what is no longer serving me

You will need:

Paper

A pen/ pencil

A fireproof dish

Matches

Sit somewhere where you won’t be disturbed, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Think about the sorts of things you are ready to leave behind.

What sorts of things are you carrying with you from this year that you no longer need?

What kinds of emotions are you ready to let go of?

What fears do you have that are no longer serving you?

Are there any unhealthy relationships or attachments from this year you have that you are now ready to release?

Write down all of the things that come into your head onto your piece of paper. Read through them and imagine all the things that no longer serve you being released from you. When you have finished (very carefully) put your piece of paper into your fireproof dish. It may be good to do this part outside!

Light your paper and allow the universe to take all these things away from you. Be thankful for your experiences and be ready to embrace all of the new things that you want to call in.

Next week just before the New Year there is a new moon. This is the perfect time to focus on all of the things you want to draw into your life. We will be putting together a post with a ritual for this very soon!
